What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction, commonly known as lipo, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat from various body parts like the hips, thighs, abdomen, arms, and neck. This surgery not only helps in eliminating unwanted fat but also reshapes the body, enhancing both appearance and self-confidence. Liposuction can be performed as a standalone procedure or in combination with other plastic surgeries such as facelifts, breast reductions, or tummy tucks.

Preparing for Liposuction in Iran

Before undergoing liposuction, it’s essential to consult with your surgeon a few days prior to the surgery. During this consultation, the surgeon will inquire about your physical and mental health, self-image, expectations, and lifestyle. Additionally, you should follow these pre-surgery guidelines:

  • Take necessary lab tests.
  • Use prescribed medications.
  • Avoid smoking for at least two weeks before surgery.
  • Refrain from taking aspirin and herbal supplements.
  • Inform your doctor about any allergies.

Liposuction Procedure in Iran

The procedure begins with the surgeon deciding on the appropriate anesthesia (local or general) based on your physical condition and the type of surgery. Once anesthesia is administered, the surgeon makes a small, discreet incision in the targeted area and inserts a narrow tube called a cannula. Using a surgical vacuum and the cannula, the surgeon then removes the excess fat.

Possible Complications of Liposuction in Iran

Like any surgical procedure, liposuction comes with potential risks and complications, including:

  • Anesthesia complications
  • Bruising or hematoma
  • Infection
  • Pulmonary edema
  • Nerve damage
  • Bleeding
  • Delayed wound healing
  • Possible damage to blood vessels and muscles
  • Prolonged swelling
  • Inflammation

Post-Liposuction Care in Iran

After the surgery, the incision site is covered with a dressing to minimize swelling and bruising. A temporary drainage tube may be placed in the incision to prevent fluid and blood accumulation under the skin. During the recovery period, be vigilant for abnormal symptoms such as severe bleeding, high blood pressure, or fever, as these may indicate serious issues. It is crucial to take prescribed medications and avoid strenuous activities until you have fully recovered.
